Tour 4: Barbarossa, Brocken witches and the brothers Grimm: from Goslar to Göttingen

9 Things to Do in Goslar

Evening

Brauhaus Goslar is Goslar´s only public house with inhouse brewery! Watch the master brewer at work and enjoy original GOSE - the beer from the Harz - as well as other beers made at Brauhaus Goslar.

Hallmarks

The Harz mountains and Goslar stand for mining. The history of the Rammelsberg Mine is played out every day by the moving figures and carillon on the Market Square at 9:00, 12:00, 15:00 and 18:00. Legend has it that the horse ridden by Sir Ramm pawed the ground to expose the first silver vein.

Tour

First make a short detour to Wernigerode and ride the famous Harz narrow-gauge railway to the summit of the Brocken mountain – the highest point in Northern Germany at 1142 metres, and wreathed in myth and legend. On arriving back in Wernigerode, don’t miss strolling through the colourful streets with their brightly painted half-timbered houses. Continue your tour to Göttingen in the late afternoon.
