Parks and gardens in Hildesheim
Magdalenengarten
The Magdalenengarten is among the oldest gardens in the city of Hildesheim. At the core of the current reconstruction work is the large parterre garden structured according to Baroque principles of order. Here, a new rose garden with more than 1,800 newly planted rose bushes is being created. This park, positioned between Wallmauer and Stadtmauer (the city walls), also includes a meadow with fruit trees and a small vineyard. From seats at convenient vantage points, the garden, the nearby Michaeliskirche (St. Michael's Church) and the whole city can be seen. Every year in June people come to see the rose bloom and to celebrate the magdalenen festive with garden and leisure fair and also lots of cultural highlights.
The tourist-information Hildesheim offers guided tours around the Magdalengarten.
