Walls, Trenches, Parks - the "Green Belt" of Wolfenbüttel
Walls, Trenches, Parks – the "Green Belt" of Wolfenbüttel In the 16th and 17th century, the fortification system of Wolfenbüttel was considered one of the strongest and mightiest fortresses in northern Germany. After the ducal court had returned to Braunschweig in the mid-18th century, the fortifications were razed or demolished, and a beautiful "green belt" has developed around the historic part of the city. Take a stroll individually or on a guided theme tour named "Über Wall und Graben" ("Along the Walls and Trenches"). The tour can be booked at Tourist Information.
