The most authentic gastronomic experience can be found at the small private breweries "Gasthaus Zum Löwen" and "Schadts Brauerei Gasthof". There you can sample Braunschweiger Bierbraten (beer roast) with a glass of cloudy Pilsener while watching work go on in the brewery. Alternatively, visitors can order the Braunschweig speciality “Mumme Royal” as an aperitif at a romantic vaulted cellar restaurant.
