Christmas Market: 25 November to 23 December 2010

Three Christmas markets at once put the whole of Hannover in a Christmassy mood in Advent. Not commercialised but staged: that is the motto for the Christmas market around the Marktet church in the Old town. The festive illumination of the Market Church and Old Town Hall makes sure that this traditional Christmas market has a very special atmosphere of its own. Something unusual here is the historic Christmas Village which conjures up the tranquility of mediaeval town life once again. At the adjacent Ballhofplatz the Finnish Christmas market offers specialities such as “Flammlachs” (grilled fish) and “Glögi” (mulled wine).
